A centered meter is only half the assignment. Decide how movement and depth should look in your photograph.
How this simulation works & scoring
Each scene has a first assignment (100 points), a Creative Remix (150 points), and a constraint challenge (100 points). A hint subtracts 20 points for that attempt. Reset controls to retry. Only your best score for each assignment counts; repeated captures do not accumulate points. Complete the first shot to unlock its remix, then the remix to unlock the constraint. All eight scenes are available from the start.
Whole-stop controls use standard rounded camera labels. At fixed ISO, matching the same target means equivalent light exposure. Changing ISO can preserve recorded brightness while changing the amount of light reaching the sensor. ISO does not add light.
The matched image pairs are AI-generated teaching artwork. Each scene demonstrates its main effect: depth of field in portraits, landscapes and still life; subject motion in the other scenes. Other optical effects are not fully modeled. Noise and brightness changes are illustrative. The pairs can have minor compositional differences. They are not calibrated predictions for a particular camera, lens, distance, movement speed or diffraction.
Explore unlocks all camera controls and offers three light levels. “Surprise me” chooses an available assignment and changes the starting settings. As you complete assignments, more kinds of challenges enter the mix. Exploration and repeated attempts never reduce your saved best scores.
No accounts, tracking or remote services. Scores save only in this browser. Clearing browser data clears progress. Earlier waterfall progress is imported when possible.
