How to Transfer iPhone Photos and Videos to a Folder on a Mac

To transfer iPhone photos and videos to a folder on a Mac is super easy, but it is almost impossible to figure out. Personally, I do not use the Photos App. on my iMac. You could transfer your images to the library when you backup your iPhone to your computer, but I prefer this process.

The process I will show you in this tutorial is how to use Image Capture to transfer the sames photos and videos to any folder on your Mac or an external hard drive. The process should only take a few minutes, but might take 5-10 minutes depending on if you have 2670 images on your phone.

Use Image Capture to Transfer iPhone Photos and Videos to a Folder on a Mac

I will provide you with a step-by-step guide on how to use Image Capture to transfer your photos from your iPhone to a folder on your Mac.

Be Smart Use an External Hard Drive for Photographs

Saving a large folder of images to an internal hard drive is not a good idea on most of today’s computers. Internal SSD’s do not have a massive amount of storage. I always suggest you save photographs, especially RAW files to an external hard drive. To the right is a basic USB-c SSD.
